Episode 407 – Strange Attractors
Claire and Gretchen try to talk to each other about their kiss when masked assailants burst into their room. Claire fights them off but it is revealed to be some members of the sisterhood preparing them for their initiation. Claire and Gretchen allow themselves to be bagged and tagged and thrown in the back of a car boot. Here they again try to talk about what happened and Claire says she is so close to having a normal life she doesn’t know if she wants to change that right now.

Along with two other members of the alumni, Claire and Gretchen are taken to a slaughterhouse where they are forced to play games for clues. When the four of them split up Claire saves Gretchen from a narrow escape and comes to the conclusion that someone is trying to hurt them. When they move onto another room Gretchen accepts that it was unfair of her to put Claire on the spot like that and apologises, Claire says she has nothing to be sorry for when Gretchen is attacked and choked by an invisible assailant.

Claire fights off an invisible foe but is then impaled against the wall, she managed to slash at her attacker, cutting her and making her show herself. Both Claire and Gretchen as well as the two other girls see it is the leader of the fraternity and no one knows what to do. Claire is removed from the wall and heals in front of the new faces.

Noah tries to get the young kid Jeremy out of prison but apparently he has a bad rap sheet and a book of poetry about murder and killing animals for fun. Noah asks Tracey to come down and pretend to be Jeremy’s aunt so he can be released. When she arrives she is met by Samuel Sullivan who whisks her off to the carnival and tells her she and Jeremy should go to him.

Noah’s plan works and the police agree to release Jeremy, Noah has set up a new life for him in Washington but Tracey thinks that he might be better off at the carnival. As they leave the station a mob has formed outside, one tries to attack Jeremy but he grabs him and kills him. Jeremy walks back into the station. Later an officer and a citizen take Jeremy out of his cell and tie him to the back of a pickup truck. The officer tells Jeremy he can have a free swing at him but Jeremy puts his arms to his sides as the truck drives off. Later Noah and Tracey find Jeremy’s dead body in the road.

Upset Tracey tells Noah to never call her again, she doesn’t want to hide anymore, she wants to belong, Noah tells her that after this incident it probably won’t happen. The next day or so Samuel Sullivan returns to the town. He spots the two men who killed Jeremy enter the police station and he brings that station down to the ground, turns and walks away.

He finds that by drinking alcohol Sylar seems to weaken so Matt drinks more and more until Sylar vanishes and Matt passes out. When he wakes up he finds Janice and his AA sponsor there trying to help him.

Matt says he’d feel better after a shower and leaves but it turns out he is now actually Sylar! Sylar has taken over Matt’s mind and forced Matt now to be the one hidden in the back of his own head. Janice spots Matt talking to himself and laughing and appears worried.

Episode 406 – ‘Tabula Rasa’
Hiro turns up at Peter’s and collapses so Peter takes him to the hospital. Hiro explains that he is on a mission to help people and that he is going to help Peter who disagrees believing he is to help Hiro. Then Hiro meets Emma who wants her power gone. Peter takes Hiro’s power and goes to visit Noah who tells him of a boy who used to be able to heal people by touching them. They shoot off in search of him.

Hiro tries to help Emma come to terms with her power and involves her in a magic trick and shows her how beautiful her gift can be. They get talking and Hiro remembers the one person he truly loved didn’t make his list, Charlie, the waitress. Peter and Noah arrive at the teenagers house to find his parents dead and the kid with a shotgun. Apparently he no longer heals, everything he touches kills. Noah tries to reason with him and Peter uses the ability to appear next to him and try to stop time, but he is too late. He gets a shotgun blast through the chest. Looking awesome by the way.

Noah convinces the kid that he can heal and he does, saving Peter. Noah stays with him whilst Peter goes back to the hospital and Hiro but Hiro has vanished leaving behind only a note that reads “save Charlie”. We then see Hiro three years earlier at the diner where Charlie works.

Meanwhile Samuel tries to find the real Sylar lying deep within Gabriel but he keeps having memories of being Nathan. Sam tries to bring the real memories back by showing Sylar his real past in a hall of mirrors but he still can’t bring that to be true. So Samuel invites the police officer looking for Sylar to the carnival and tells Sylar that he is in the grounds. They confront each other, they have an argument and Sylar uses his lightning on him but doesn’t kill him. Then the speedy brother comes in and cuts the policeman up.

Sylar is initiated into the family and starts flirting with the tattooed woman much to the speedy knife cutters dismay.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a ratings stunt!

Marc Cherry has confirmed that a plane is going to come crashing down on Desperate Housewives’ Wisteria Lane this season, for the show’s midseason cliffhanger.

And now ABC sources are spilling this cool little nugget of info: The plane might end up being none other than one from Lost’s Oceanic Airlines.

So wait a minute, does that mean that if/when Lost resets this season with an alternate reality (if that hydrogen bomb did actually go off), Jack, Kate, Sawyer and the gang could crash on Wisteria Lane instead of the island?

Sorry, no such luck, Susan Mayer. Jack Shepard will not be dipping his ladle in your special sauce…

The plane’s Oceanic branding would just be a fun little Easter egg for Lost fans to find. And while the crossover has yet to be finalized, I’m told the higher-ups at ABC are keen on the idea.

“Everyone loved how well those ‘ABC House’ promos did last year,” one alphabet-net mole tells me, referring to the promo spots in which characters from different ABC series mixed worlds (see above). “We’re looking at ways to find more fun crossovers between shows, and so the idea came up to have the Desperate Housewives plane be Oceanic.”

What do you think of Lost’s mythology filtering into other ABC series? Perhaps Hurley could pay a visit to Modern Family? Smokey’s next victim could be treated at Seattle Grace? Or, oooh, I know: How about Charlie or Penny crossing over to Flash Forward? (Nahhh, that’d be too weird.)

And hey, speaking of Lost, any theories on what will happen if the bomb does or doesn’t go off? Where will Oceanic Flight 815 end up? The comments are yours for the taking…And if you’re really good and eat your vegetables, I may even join you down under.

Heroes Episode 404 – Acceptance

Noah is bumbling about at home, not sure what to do. Claire visits him and they have a nice chat that makes him feel better about his otherwise wasted life. Tracey gets her job back with the Governor but decides she doesn’t really want it after all. She goes to see Noah who tells her that she needs to do what she wants now she has her life back. Samuel Sullivan paints another picture on who he needs next and it turns out to be Noah. He says that’s impossible as Noah is retired but he is told that perhaps he’s changed his mind. Back at his apartment Noah is looking at pictures of members of the Sullivan Bros. Carnival and an article on a compass.

Hiro agrees to walk his sister down the aisle at her wedding to Ando but he isn’t happy because the wedding is over a year away and worries Hiro might not be alive still then. They get a call at Dial-A-Hero and it is a former employee who is on the roof and ready to jump. He tells Hiro his life fell apart after he was fired for photocopying his rear at the party. Hiro goes back in time to change that but events repeat themselves over and over again.

Eventually Hiro agrees with Ando that he will tell his sister he is dying and he then tells the jumper about mortality and acceptance. He doesn’t jump and Hiro has saved him. Back inside and Hiro tells his sister about his illness and then has another attack, panicked Ando calls the hospital but then Hiro vanishes in front of both Ando and his sister.

Nathan is having visions of his past and in one of them he sees a dead girl but from all accounts he thought this girl ran away. Peter tells him to go visit the girls mother, Angela’s friend Millie, in hope that seeing objects from the past will bring back his memory. Nathan does this and reveals that in an accident he did kill Millie’s daughter. He tells her this but she refuses to believe him.

Later Nathan is attacked and taken to the woods where he is shot three times and buried. The attacker calls Millie and tells her the deal is done. Later still, back in the woods, Nathan’s arm raises from the ground because obviously this isn’t Nathan. This is Sylar who climbs out of the ground.

Pretty good episode again, I’m impressed with Heroes so far this season. Although now Sylar is back, does this mean his angle with Matt is over? Does this also mean that Nathan is finally written out of the show? Until next week.
