Episode 121 – “The Greater Good”
As the survivors are burying Boone, Locke appears and apologies for what happened, saying it was his fault and Boone was a hero. Jack goes to attack him and is held back by some of the others. Locke apologies to Shannon and gives her Boone’s rucksack. Shannon goes to Sayid and asks him to kill John for her.

In flashbacks we see Sayid under arrest get carted into a room where he is told he has to work for the CIA if he ever wants to see Nadia again. They believe that one of Sayid’s old college friends is going to commit an act of terrorism and they want him to get the dirt in order to prosecute him. He agrees and manages to infiltrate the gang, finding out their plan. He learns his friend actually doesn’t want to be a martyr but the CIA insist he must go through with the plan otherwise they’ve got nothing on him.

On the day it’s supposed to be going down, Sayid confesses that he’s working with the CIA and this causes his friend to shoot himself in the head. The CIA give Sayid a ticket to LA where Nadia is but he refuses to get on the flight they’ve booked for him, insisting on flying tomorrow so he can take responsibility for his friends body and give him a proper burial.

On the island Sayid asks Locke to take him to the plane so he can salvage the radio for the raft they’re building. On route Locke is cautious of Sayid’s questioning and when they reach the plane Sayid notices Locke has a gun. Locke hands over the gun and then tells Sayid it was him who knocked him out and destroyed his transceiver. An enraged Sayid wants to know why and Locke says he didn’t want to lead people to a place where a message repeated “they’re all dead”.

Sayid tells Shannon he believes what happened to Boone was an accident and not Lockes fault. She’s not happy so decides to take care of Locke herself. Kate has drugged Jack because he refuses to rest, when he wakes up he finds the key to the briefcase with the gun in has been taken. He believes it is Locke but Sayid knows it was Shannon. They run into the jungle to stop her but find her already holding a gun to Locke. Sayid reacts, a bullet is fired but misses.

Meanwhile Claire needs rest from the baby so Charlie offers to take him for a bit. Baby turniphead won’t stop crying, even Hurley’s singing doesn’t help but somehow Sawyers voice does. Charlie gets Sawyer to read to the baby to keep him quiet. Later Sayid confronts Locke and tells him he wants to be taken to the hatch.
