Episode 122 – “Born To Run”
The raft is near completion and ready to set sail but Doctor Artz warns the crew that setting sail now would be very bad, monsoon season is coming and the winds will change from North to South meaning the only place the raft is going to end up is Antarctica. Michael says they’re setting sail and they plan on going tomorrow. Kate speaks with Michael, she wants on the raft and says she can replace Sawyer, after all, can he really be trusted?

In flashbacks we see Kate arrive at a motel, she changes the plates on her car and steals the keys to a room where she goes in and has a shower, dying her blonde hair brown. She then goes to visit her old friend Tom Brennan, a doctor. She needs a favour, she needs to have a private one to one with her mother who has just been diagnosed with cancer. Tom arranges the meet but they have some time to kill so he and Kate go to dig up a time capsule they buries fifteen years ago. Here is where the toy plane Kate has was stored, it belonged to Tom and was his favourite toy ever.

They listen to a cassette tape in the car and it brings back memories, they share a kiss and then go to the hospital. When Kate talks to her mother she apologises for everything she’s done, but her mother starts to scream for help so Kate runs. She bumps into a security guard who tries to detain her but she knocks him out and goes on the run. She jumps in Toms car and the two try to escape as police sirens scream. As they get to the exit of the car park Kate tells Tom to get out, he refuses so Kate puts her foot down. The police officer blocking the exit starts shooting and Tom dies. Kate crashes the car, takes the plane and runs.

On the island Kate asks Sawyer for his spot on the raft, he refuses. Kate says she will get it and then Michael becomes ill. Kate runs off in search of Jack who has been taken to the hatch by Sayid. At the hatch Jack wants to open it, just like Locke but Sayid is concerned. There is no handle, this isn’t meant to be opened from the outside but Sayid is outvoted. Back at the beach it looks as though Michael has been poisoned. Kate plants some seeds and Michael accuses Sawyer.

Sawyer blames Kate and empties her bag to the crowd to find the passport of the woman who drowned in her bag. Kate admits to everyone she was the fugitive and needs to disappear again. Jack discovers it was Sun who poisoned Michael but she meant to stop Jin, she doesn’t want him to leave. Sun then tells Kate Jack found out but doesn’t suspect it was Kate’s plan all along. Later Sawyer apologies for having to do that but he wants that place on the raft. When asked why, he says there is nothing on the island left staying for.
