The Football Association says it will make a decision over whether to relay the much-criticised Wembley Stadium pitch after the weekend. This would be the eleventh time the pitch could be relaid since 2007 and yet every time they do it ends up in the same sorry state as it was before, and at £90,000 a pop, is it worth it?

“Football is the number one priority and we understand we have to find a way to deliver and sustain a consistent quality pitch,” read an FA statement.

I suggest getting in touch with one of the premier league groundsmen, it’s hard to fathom how our national pitch that only gets used a handful of times cannot stand a few games as opposed to club grounds which are played on week in and week out. Perhaps we should look in the possibility of playing on astroturf?
