Shockingly, I don’t own Mary Poppins on DVD or Blu-Ray. I do have a copy on VHS though. Yet I adore this film, every Christmas it’s on my tellybox and I’m singing along. So now news that there is a 50th Anniversary edition coming? I’ll lap that up thanks!

Walt Disney Home Entertainment has revealed the 50th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray release of director Robert Stevenson’s Mary Poppins, starring Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, Glynis Johns, David Tomlinson, Matthew Garber, Karen Dotrice and Jane Darwell. The live-action Walt Disney classic makes its Blu-ray debut on December 10th.

Synopsis: A magical, musical nanny (Andrews) brings a breath of fresh air into the stuffy Banks household in turn-of-the-century England. Overstuffed with gaiety, this children’s fantasy is filled with dance numbers and outrageous songs (among them the seemingly unpronounceable “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”), and its blend of live-action and animation was a marvel in its day.

Mary Poppins also features Andrews’ film debut and Darwell’s last film appearance, earned thirteen Academy Award nominations (including Best Picture, Best Director and Best (Adapted) Screenplay), and won five Oscars (Best Actress: Julie Andrews, Best Original Score, Best Song: Chim Chim Cher-ee, Best Editing, and Best Special Visual Effects).

Tech specs and special features have yet to be detailed. However, Disney has stated the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack will offer brand new bonus content
