After my comments on the latest outing from Alan Partridge – Welcome to the Places of my Life – earlier, now I’ve just gone and read that the Alan Partridge Movie is a go-er and set to start filming in January of 2012.
Whilst speaking in character we learnt that the film will see Partridge attempt to “salvage his public career while negotiating a potentially violent turn of events”.
The film is being written by Coogan, Peter Baynham and Armando Iannucci who settled our fears when he said about the film:
“Alan is in Norwich,” said the writer and producer at a preview of his new political comedy Veep. “It’s not Alan goes to Hollywood [or] Alan invaded by aliens.
“He’s on North Norfolk Digital, which is taken over by a bigger media conglomerate and has its name changed to Shape.”
Coogan appeared in the Levinson Inquiry lately and with the ongoing media saga still in the headlines, one must wonder if it is this that’s sparked the writers pen to meet paper.
The Alan Partridge movie should be hitting UK cinemas in August of 2013.
