If you were a child of the 80s and for some reason made your mum rent you Rainbow Brite the movie every week from the video shop – yes videos, what we had before DVDs and Blu-Ray – then chances are you’ll be excited by this news.

Actress Emily Osment spilled the beans on her Instagram account with a picture of the first script and this caption: “First day on the job! Very stoked to be back doing some animation this summer. See you soon! Love, Emily aka Rainbow Brite.”

So if it’s nostalgia or excitement at getting to show your offspring what you grew up with, Rainbow Brite is coming back. (Lets just hope not as a terribly tame CGI version)
