Episode 107 – “The Moth”
Charlie-centric episode as he struggles to overcome his addiction. People everywhere are shunning Charlie and it makes him remember when his band Driveshaft first made it big. He was only the bass player and as such the limelight tended to shine away from him. Much like on the island he feels under valued when Jack tells him he isn’t needed.

Charlie goes to Locke and asks for his drugs back. Locke says he is going to help him through it, he will allow Charlie to ask for the drugs three times, on the third time he will give them to him. After a cave in which traps Jack Charlie goes back to Locke and asks him a second time. Locke explains that Charlie is a lot like a moth. It has to burrow its way out of its hard coccoon. Sure, Locke could help the moth escape but then it wouldn’t be strong enough to survive. Charlie is like the moth, he needs to get through this alone to feel better.

Charlie goes back to the caves and tells them he is going in to rescue Jack. Once inside the hole built collapses trapping Jack with Charlie. After talking about their problems and Jack realising Charlie is an addict Charlie spots a moth escape and he manages to dig them both out. Later that night as Charlie is sweating and shaking from his body desperate for another fix he goes to see Locke and asks him for his drugs. Locke is disapointed but Charlie throws his stash into the fire and Locke smiles.

Meanwhile Sayid, Kate and Boone try to triangulate the distress call but when Boone is called to the caves he has to rely on Shannon to step up and the same when Sawyer tells Kate about Jack. Thankfully everyone plays their part and just as Sayid is getting somewhere he gets knocked unconcious from behind.
